The book focuses on the state of Himachal Pradesh, as representative of mountain area, which has recorded relatively higher socio-economic progress. Findings are based on comprehensive analysis of the state's economy and macro-as well as micro-investigations into crop; livestock and horticultural activities; farm and non-farm employment; role of physical and institutional infrastructure; and state policy.
