The concept of establishing a 'Centre for Asian and European Studies' was conceived by a group of eminent scholars by the end of 20th century but it materialized only by the beginning of 21st century. Since Asia and Europe constitute two large regions and civilizations of the world cherishing the values of democracy, pluralism and lieralism, it was appropriate to establish a centre, which could have an objective analysis of these values. The well known scholar professor M.D. Dharamdasani who is currently Director of the Nepal Study Centre and also Coordinator of Japanese Studies programme at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (India) has kindly agreed to take the overall responsibility to be the Editor of the Journal.
